Mount Joy's Holiday Calendar Is Only Half Posted. Here's What's Confirmed So Far.

Mount Joy's holiday season already has firm dates for 2026. What's missing so far is most of the detail. The Mount Joy Area Chamber of Commerce lists Winterfest for Saturday, Dec. 5, from 2 to 5 p.m. on Main Street, with music, food, shopping, Santa and the annual tree lighting. The 2026 listing doesn't yet say where the stage goes, which building Santa will use, or which food vendors are coming.

Those gaps are easier to fill than they look. The same five organizations run Winterfest, and the 2024 and 2025 versions used almost the same streets, buildings and schedule. If you read the confirmed 2026 dates next to the last two years, you get a usable plan for the season. The two exceptions are a pair of dates that land on holidays, plus one road closure that starts hours before the festival does.

The dates that are locked in

Here is what has been posted for 2026, in order:

  1. Monday, Nov. 16, 7 to 8 p.m. The Mount Joy Area Historical Society's "WWI Doughboys" talk at 120 Fairview St. It's free and open to the public, and donations are accepted. Voyage Mount Joy's community calendar lists Michael Jessberger as the presenter.
  2. Saturday, Nov. 21, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Heritage Creek Farm & Education Center, 2126 Rissermill Road. The farm calls this day its Holiday Vendor Market/Community Farm. It's one of the free seasonal openings where visitors can explore the farm and try hands-on activities. The Chamber lists the same date as "Winter: Sinterklaus 2026," so both names refer to the same Saturday.
  3. Saturday, Nov. 28, all day. Small Business Saturday, listed on the Voyage Mount Joy calendar as a shop-local day.
  4. Thursday, Dec. 3, 6 to 8 p.m. A holiday party at Koser Jewelers, 811 E. Main St., with refreshments and one-night event pricing.
  5. Saturday, Dec. 5, 2 to 5 p.m. Winterfest 2026 on Main Street. Voyage Mount Joy puts the tree lighting at 5 p.m.
  6. Saturday, Dec. 12, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Chamber's Visit with Santa 2026 at Milanof-Schock Library, 1184 Anderson Ferry Road. For now the listing just says "SAVE THE DATE!"

Almost all of these are Saturdays, and none of them overlap.

The road closure starts four hours before Winterfest

The Feb. 2, 2026 Borough Council agenda lists a motion to adopt Resolution 2026-04, which sets event road closures. The Winterfest closure in that list runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Dec. 5.

Compare that with the other closures on the same list. Mount Joy Spooktacular on Oct. 23 was listed for a closure from 5 to 8 p.m., the same three hours as the event. National Night Out on Aug. 4 ran from 6 to 10 p.m. Winterfest's window is ten hours for a three-hour event, which leaves time for setup before 2 p.m. and teardown after the tree is lit.

The agenda doesn't list which streets close. The last two Winterfests ran along Main Street from Market Street to Barbara Street, so if you live or park on that stretch, plan for a late-morning closure, not a mid-afternoon one.

What the last two Winterfests looked like

The 2026 listing names the organizers: the Rotary Club of Mount Joy, Mount Joy Lions Club, Kiwanis Club of Norlanco-Rheems, Friends of Donegal and the Mount Joy Area Chamber of Commerce. With the same groups running it each year, the past two editions are a good guide to where things will be. These details come from earlier years and aren't confirmed for 2026.

LancasterOnline's 2025 preview gives last year's schedule in detail. The main stage stood in front of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, with Sandy Heisey on keyboard, the Trinity Lutheran Church and Mary Mother of the Church children's choirs, Sweet Life Music, the Donegal High School Rhythm Singers and the Donegal Alumni Band. At 5 p.m. the alumni band led the crowd to the Rotary Clock for a carol singalong, and then the tree was lit. The Church of God hosted face painting, a petting zoo and a Little Shopper's Store. Stilt walkers were new in 2025. The Mount Joy Borough Police ran a Toys for Tots collection, and Friends of Donegal collected canned goods for the Mount Joy Food Bank.

TownLively's 2024 coverage adds the food setup. Food was on Delta Street, with overflow onto East Main Street, and a holiday market brought at least 15 artisan vendors. That year's food list included Blue Stone Bakery, Bube's Brewery, Noel's Cafe, Piper Belles BBQ, the Rotary Club Fry Wagon, Savory's Pumpkin Funnel Cakes, Spud Muffin, The Donut Guys, Two Cousin's and the Mount Joy Lions Club.

Both years used the same layout: stage near St. Mark's, Santa at Sheetz Funeral Home, kids at the Church of God, and the tree at the Rotary Clock. If 2026 follows it, you could plan the afternoon from those four spots and be at the clock by 5.

Fourth Friday lands on a holiday in November and December

Fourth Friday is Mount Joy's monthly evening of downtown shopping and dining, usually 4 to 8 p.m., with shops and restaurants offering deals and family activities. Its event listing notes that Fourth Fridays are not Voyage Mount Joy events.

The last two months of 2026 don't fit the usual pattern. Thanksgiving is Thursday, Nov. 26, so November's fourth Friday is Nov. 27, the day after. The Voyage Mount Joy calendar lists the November Fourth Friday as "November 28, 5-8 PM TBA." That's a Saturday, the same day it lists for Small Business Saturday. December's fourth Friday is Christmas Day, and the same calendar says only "Stay tuned for updates."

Until someone posts an update, Thanksgiving weekend has two possible Fourth Friday nights and December has none. Check with individual shops before you go out on the evening of Nov. 27 or Nov. 28.

Small Business Saturday on a Main Street with new shops

No 2026 Small Business Saturday offers have been posted yet. Last year's give a sense of how many shops sit on one short stretch of East Main Street. LancasterOnline reported 2025 deals from Dave's Toybox at 47 E. Main, The Joy of Sweets & Treats at 55 E. Main, Sloan's Pharmacy at 61 E. Main, Moon Raven Alley at 65 E. Main, and Time After Time Clocks and Ladybug Crossing, both at 67 E. Main. Guitars on Main at 84 E. Main also took part. Sheri Bare Clay Art Sculpture at 66 E. Main held an open studio on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday. These were 2025 offers. Treat them as a map of the block, not as this year's deals.

Two shops on that block have more recent signs of activity.

Seymour's Little Shop of Books is at 45 E. Main St. Its website lists hours of 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day except Tuesday. The store sells new and discounted books, adds new titles weekly, and hosts book fairs and author signings. Co-owner Bill Seymour explained the idea behind the store to LancasterOnline:

"We're big believers every town needs a bookstore."

Mystic Table Hobby & Game Emporium is newer. PennLive reported that it held a grand opening and Chamber ribbon-cutting on June 13 at 91 E. Main St. This fall the Wizards of the Coast store locator has listed Thursday Casual Commander nights and a Sunday Commander afternoon there, with room for 24 players.

Mystic Table joins other game shops that were already on Main Street in 2025. LancasterOnline's 2025 coverage profiled The Dice Goblin at 50 E. Main and Trader Dan's TCG in a building behind 250 W. Main, along with Dave's Toybox. The Dice Goblin's Chamber listing shows it at 50 East Main St., Suite 2. It sells new and used books and games, dice, 3-D-printed gaming accessories and candles, and rents out gaming rooms. These shops are a good place to look on Nov. 28 for a holiday gift for someone who plays tabletop games.

After Winterfest, one more Saturday

The season wraps up a week after the tree lighting. Last year's Visit with Santa followed a set routine. The Mount Joy Fire Department brought Santa to Milanof-Schock Library, where he greeted children until 2 p.m. Each family got a free picture, and the library's Friends group ran make-and-take crafts and a bake sale. The 2026 date is set for Saturday, Dec. 12, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the same library on Anderson Ferry Road.

That makes Dec. 12 the last confirmed date of Mount Joy's 2026 holiday season. The next update to watch for is the Winterfest page listing the stage lineup, Santa's location and the street plan for Dec. 5.

The Steve Hammond Team is based here in Mount Joy, and we'll be on Main Street for Winterfest like a lot of our neighbors. If you're house hunting in the borough and want to know what the blocks between Market and Barbara are like the rest of the year, schedule a free consultation with us.
